The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have announced a global short-form content-sharing agreement designed to connect Disney’s entertainment franchises with TikTok’s creator community.

Under the partnership, selected fan-created TikTok videos featuring Disney movies, television shows, characters and stories will also be made available through Disney+.

The program is expected to begin as a pilot in the United States in the coming months, with Disney and TikTok intending to expand it to additional markets later.

Selected TikTok Videos Will Appear on Disney+

Short-form videos from participating creators who choose to join the program will remain available on TikTok while also appearing within Verts, Disney+’s short-form video experience.

The curated videos may feature content connected to Disney brands and franchises, including:

  • Disney
  • Pixar
  • Marvel
  • Star Wars
  • FX

The selection of creator videos available on Disney+ will be refreshed regularly. Disney says the initiative is intended to help subscribers discover different forms of entertainment content and participate in conversations developing around its movies and television programs.

TikTok Creators Will Receive Access to Disney Content

As part of the agreement, TikTok plans to provide participating creators with approved content assets connected to hundreds of Disney films and television series.

These assets could allow creators to produce short-form videos using recognisable scenes, characters and moments from Disney’s entertainment catalogue.

The arrangement gives Disney a structured way to encourage fan creativity while allowing TikTok creators to work with content from some of the entertainment industry’s most established franchises.

Disney and TikTok Launch Creator Ambassador Program

The two companies are also introducing the Disney Creator Ambassador Program.

The jointly managed program will identify and support participating creators through a tiered system. Selected creators may receive benefits such as:

  • Greater visibility for their work
  • Access to exclusive events
  • Special creator rewards
  • Career development opportunities

The program is intended to help Disney build relationships with emerging creative talent while giving TikTok creators additional opportunities to grow their audiences and careers.

Short-Form Content Is Influencing Entertainment Discovery

The partnership reflects the growing role of short-form creator content in the way audiences discover movies and television shows.

According to internal TikTok data referenced in Disney’s announcement, users shared an average of 6.5 million film- and television-related posts on TikTok every day during the previous year.

The announcement also cited research indicating that nearly half of the surveyed viewers watched a movie or television program through a streaming service or television after first discovering related entertainment content on TikTok.

These findings show why entertainment companies are increasingly treating creator content as part of their audience acquisition and engagement strategies.

What the Partnership Means for Marketing

The agreement demonstrates how major brands can move beyond conventional social media advertising by integrating creator content directly into their own digital platforms.

For Disney, the partnership could extend conversations about its films and programs beyond their initial release periods. Fan-created videos can introduce older titles to new audiences, maintain interest between releases and encourage viewers to explore related content on Disney+.

For TikTok, the deal strengthens its position as an entertainment discovery platform while providing creators with access to established intellectual property and wider distribution.

The partnership also highlights a broader marketing shift toward combining brand-owned content, creator participation and community-led storytelling. Instead of keeping social media content separate from the streaming experience, Disney is bringing selected fan creativity into Disney+ itself.

The United States pilot will provide an early indication of how audiences respond to creator-produced short-form videos appearing alongside professionally produced entertainment content.
